What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains what information LocalEdge collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights. It applies to localedgeapp.com and any related apps or services. By using LocalEdge, you consent to the practices described here.
2

Information we collect

We only collect what we need to run the service:
  • Account info. Email, password (hashed, never seen by us), business name, owner name, industry, city, state, phone number.
  • Business profile. Your Google Business Profile URL or Place ID, plus any competitor Place IDs you add.
  • Alert preferences. SMS on/off, competitor alert method (SMS vs email), alert phone number, report email.
  • Usage data. Pages visited, features used, approximate location (from IP), device/browser. Collected via Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity on public pages.
  • Billing info. Processed by Stripe. We never receive or store credit card numbers — we hold only a Stripe customer ID, subscription status, and billing period.
  • Marketing attribution. UTM parameters when you arrive from a campaign.
  • Communications. Records of emails and SMS we send you, and any support messages you send us.
3

How we use your information

  • To operate and personalize the service (pull your Google data, build dashboards, send reports).
  • To send transactional communications (trial reminders, weekly reports, billing notices, alerts).
  • To process payments via Stripe.
  • To improve the product, debug issues, and prevent abuse.
  • To measure the effectiveness of our marketing.
  • To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers.
4

Third-party services we use

LocalEdge relies on a small set of subprocessors. Each handles only the data they need:
  • Supabase — database and authentication (all account and monitoring data).
  • Vercel — hosting and application delivery.
  • Google Places API — source of public review data for your business and competitors.
  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.
  • Twilio — SMS delivery for alerts and opt-out handling.
  • Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity — website analytics on public pages only (not on authenticated dashboards).
5

Cookies and analytics

We use a minimal set of cookies to keep you signed in and to measure anonymous site usage on public pages. Analytics cookies (GA4, Clarity) load only on marketing pages, not on authenticated parts of the app. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time; some features may not work without them.
6

SMS consent

When you enable SMS alerts during onboarding, you expressly consent to receive automated text messages from LocalEdge at the phone number you provide. You can opt out of all LocalEdge SMS at any time by replying STOP to any message. Message and data rates may apply. Consenting to SMS is not a condition of using LocalEdge — email alerts are also available.
7

Data retention and deletion

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel or delete your account, we retain data for up to 30 days and then permanently delete it, except where a longer retention is required by law (for example, financial records for tax compliance). You can delete your account at any time from Settings.
8

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your information (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Export your information in a portable format.
  • Opt out of marketing communications.
  • Restrict or object to certain uses of your information.
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know the categories of information we collect and to opt out of the sale of personal information (we don't sell). To exercise any of these rights, email hello@localedgeapp.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
9

Security

We encrypt data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest (Supabase-managed encryption). We use row-level security so each customer can only access their own data. We limit staff access to production data to what's necessary for support. No system is 100% secure; we'll notify affected users promptly if a breach occurs that requires disclosure under applicable law.
10

International users

LocalEdge is operated from the United States, and your information is stored on servers in the United States. If you access LocalEdge from outside the U.S., you consent to the transfer, storage, and processing of your information in the U.S.
11

Children

LocalEdge is not intended for children under 18 and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.
12

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. If a change is material, we'll email account holders at least thirty days before it takes effect. The “Effective” date above always reflects the current version.
